Frequently Asked Questions > About This Site > How does the search function work for vocal jazz charts?
The vocal jazz chart search uses "AND" booleon logic (which will make sense if you happen to remember library tutorials from school...). This means that if you choose only "Level 3" as your search parameter, you'll get a listing of all level 3 charts on the website. However, if you also select "A capella" as a second search parameter, you'll narrow that level 3 list down to charts that happen to also be a cappella. And so on. You can use as many search parameters as you like, narrowing down your search more as you as you add criteria.
If the search used "OR" logic, the opposite would be true. In that case, searching for "Level 3" OR "A cappella" would give you a list of every chart that is in either one of those categories. You'd get many more results this way, because you'd get some non-level-3 charts and some non-a cappella charts as well.
I decided that the "AND" logic would be more helpful to my customers, who usually have a pretty good idea of what they're looking for when they come to my site. And, of course, there's always the option to browse alphabetically, if you're just looking for inspiration (HINT: Start in the middle and bounce around. Ain't Too Proud to Beg and Always are nice, but if you don't make it to Minuano, that's just sad!)
