North Carolina and Ben Folds...a good match

Gaw Vang gave a moving and immensely impressive senior recital last night.  Julia and I are over the moon with pride over her.

I've chosen the members of the Raleigh, NC Ben Folds background singers, and they've all been notified and have confirmed, so here's the group:

Sopranos: Brittany Lilos and Marianne Cheng
Altos: Katherine Morrison and Mindy Roth
Tenors: Josh Carswell and Stephen Futrell
Basses: KC Steedle and Jesse Palmer

The singers are all from area universities, as Ben wants, and they'll be really great!  I won't sing throughout the concert on this one, but will conduct (subtly) in front of the choir, and I'll also sing the classical tenor solo on "Narcolepsy," as I did throughout the fall concerts.

I'm excited to announce, too (and well in advance) that there's a confirmed symphony date on October 2nd in DENVER!  I'll be living an hour away from Denver, at that time, and I'm hoping to simply use the talented voices at UNC for the group.  Should work out very well, and it may help me make some fast friends!  Plus, Julia can sing on this one, which is a huge bonus!

Since I just recently finished a big a capella Michael Jackson medley called "King of Pop," and Julia and I have recorded the demo, I wanted to feature MJ's music somehow, without giving away the demo just yet (I'll release it in late May, with the rest of the new charts promotion)...so here's..."8-bit Michael Jackson," featuring the first tune in the medley, "Beat it."

Ahhh...8-bit.  Gotta love the nostalgia when you can combine the sound of the NES with MJ.
