Working for Mr. Keezer

Julia and I were honored to have the opportunity to stack some background vocals for a project by the LA-based jazz vocalist Denise Donatelli at the beginning of January.  The project is produced by the recently Grammy-nominated jazz pianist Geoffrey Keezer, and he wrote the vocal parts, as well as all of the arrangements on the CD.  Julia and I just got to hear the final mixes (engineered by the great Joe Ferla, who mixed Maria Schneider and Pat Metheny's most recent albums, among much else of note) of the three tracks on which we laid down vocals, and we're very excited about it and can't wait for people to hear.  I'll be sure and post something when Denise's album comes out. One of the three selections, by the way, is Julia's composition "Forward, Like So," which is from her debut CD Observatory.

So, for the VOTD, here's Geoffrey accompanying Julia and me at the Jazzschool in Berkeley as we perform Maria Schneider's "The 'Pretty' Road," a few months ago.
